ABOUT

AQUA FOAM is an amazing insulating material
that changes living environments!

With its powerful thermal insulating efficacy, AQUA FOAM boasts the highest market share* in its category in Japan.
AQUA FOAM is sprayed directly into the frame of a house, where it foams up to provide outstanding airtightness through a gap-free integrated insulating material structure. (Fuji Keizai Group Co., Ltd., "Housing Equipment and Construction Material Market Trend Data Book 2024")

Q&A

How does AQUA FOAM differ from other insulation materials?

AQUA FOAM is an insulation material like no other, created through the power of water to foam rigid urethane foam on-site for application by spraying. Conventional insulation materials such as glass wool are cut and pasted on-site to fit the areas of installation, which can leave gaps in the insulation. By contrast, AQUA FOAM fills even the smallest areas without gaps and features high adhesion, yielding stable insulation efficacy.

Does the thermal insulation performance of urethane perform over time?

AQUA FOAM insulates using air. The air in the foam is made of the same components as the air in the atmosphere, so its performance does not change.

What about condensation resulting from high insulation and high airtightness?

AQUA FOAM is more resistant to moisture permeation than is fiber-based insulating material. Condensation is further inhibited through the placement of a ventilation layer and a moisture barrier. *AQUA FOAM (sprayed rigid urethane foam Type A 3) is required under energy-saving standards to place a moisture barrier on the room interior side. However, regulations permit omission of this if conditions are met.

Will there be any effects on a child with allergies?

AQUA FOAM will have no harmful effect. In general, mold occurs when condensation forms on fiber-based insulation materials. This can also result in the appearance of mites that feed on the mold. Mold and mite carcasses have been identified as causes of conditions including asthma and atopic dermatitis. As AQUA FOAM resists the formation of condensation, users can expect healthy indoor environments.

Does AQUA FOAM offer advantages beyond its thermal insulation effect?

Naturally. As AQUA FOAM leaves no gaps in its insulation, it shuts out external noises that enter through gaps and keeps indoor sounds from leaking outside. Thus, its advantages include keeping private spaces freer of noise.

Will AQUA FOAM burn if a fire occurs?

AQUA FOAM is a thermosetting plastic and does not liquefy even at high temperatures. In the event of a fire, AQUA FOAM burns in a solid state at about 300 to 400°C, generating gases including carbon dioxide while carbonizing itself. AQUA FOAM complies with Japanese Industrial Standards for flammability of rigid urethane foams (JIS A 9526). It has also received 30-minute fire-resistant and 45-minute quasi-fire-resistant structure certifications for use in outer walls in conventional wood-frame construction and 2x4 construction. In addition, AQUA FOAM is not a specified construction material subject to limits on amounts used.
